Besides the question of animosity, look at what else has been going on over the last 20 or 25 years. We have had a considerable amount of affirmative action. If your hypothesis were correct, we ought to see less crime, fewer blacks on welfare, a black unemployment rate closer to the white rate, fewer black children in single parent homes, and so on. But we don't see these things. The benefits aren't coming in.

Here's another example: We see fewer black males graduating from college today than ten years ago in spite of affirmative action, black theme dorms on campus, and all the rest of it. Where are the benefits you claim? It is quite possible that in your own terms affirmative action is a failure!
