You're equating diversity of color with diversity of ideas. There may be some statistical correlations, but not very strong ones.

I agree that there is great value in a school fostering a carefully thought out diversity of ideas on its faculty. If that's what they want, they should choose faculty mainly on the basis of scholarly creativity. Good schools already do that. If there is a viewpoint that you think has been left out, tell us what it is and argue for the value of including it in the curriculum.

But don't assume that color or race is a substitute or a proxy for ideas. If you want a greater diversity of ideas, then select people for their ideas, not their color or sex. You might be surprised who you get.
