You're forgetting the tremendous value that black teachers or business executives can have as role models.

I mentioned this before, but I think it is one of the best utilitarian arguments for bringing more blacks into those positions.

It's crucial for black students (and women too, I should add) to see that certain possibilities are really open to them --to see that not every scientist, every engineer, and every manager is a white male.
