I think that's too rosy a picture. What you're suggesting is entirely unproven, and in some cases the consequences may be just the opposite of what you say.

You suggest that strong affirmative action can make racial relations better by reducing animosity. Look around you! Most whites now believe that people should not be discriminated against because of their color. Strong affirmative action flies in the face of that. It has created more animosity on the part of whites than any other policy (except maybe school bussing). White employees resent black employees who get promoted because they are black. White students resent black students who get admitted to good schools because they are black.
