I can see that a relativist might come to a point of wide reflective equilibrium. What bothers me is that this seems to leave morality 'hanging in mid-air,' so to speak. It is internally consistent, but what are its foundations?

Could a Hitler or Stalin develop a consistent wide equilibrium? If so, he could claim the same degree of moral knowledge that we claim. He could say that he had the same sort of good reason to accept his principles.

You have to forgive me if this leaves me a bit uneasy.
