Let me give you another example. Consider the sociologist Oliver Cox --a fascinating scholar who wrote a trilogy on capitalism. The fact that professor Cox was black and born in Trinidad influenced his overall view of the world's market economy. He saw it from a different angle. Not only did he think of it as a world-wide system, but he emphasized the importance of the poorer countries in the system.

Dr. Cox was unable to teach at a 'white' university until the last years of his life. Instead, he taught at one of the historic black colleges. It's people like Dr. Cox who can add intellectual diversity and vitality to any school.
