How can you look just at jobs? Look beyond that!

Can't you see that strong affirmative action reinforces the stereotype of blacks as incompetent and less intelligent than whites? What do you expect whites to think when they go to a school that applies a lower standard to black applicants, when they see so many black students doing poorly, and when so many blacks (or at least black males) drop out? They come away with exactly the impressions you don't want.

On the other hand, if the same black student had gone to a school where he met the usual admissions standards, he would have done well and helped to destroy the stereotype.
