In a way I think you're both right. Blacks aren't the same kind of organized group as Native American tribes or private corporations. And maybe affirmative action isn't the best form for reparations to take.

My own feeling is that blacks should become a more organized body so that they can demand and administer a system of reparations. As far as the form of reparations goes, maybe affirmative action isn't the best. But it is the representatives of black people who should decide what to do with reparations and what form they should take. Maybe we would decide to create more schools. Maybe we would decide to build housing for poor blacks. Maybe we would decide to capitalize our own businesses. That should be up to us.
