I admit the principle isn't perfect, and a lot of questions remain to be
answered.
My point is that we should try to think about this on a more general level
because everyone has such strong feelings about race.
We should start with a tentative principle, evaluate its logical
consequences, then modify the principle, and so on. By 'testing' different
principles we may eventually get to one that gives overall unity to our
views and also helps answer the tough questions.
The principle I offered is a place to begin, not a place to end.
