I may as well tell
you right now that I'm skeptical about all
this talk about natural rights to property,
the state of nature, rights in societies
without government, rights in societies with
government, and so on.
If you want my opinion,
property rights have evolved differently all
over the world in response to local interests,
local ideas, and local circumstances. There
are no universal philosophical principles that
can tell us what property rights people have
or should have. That applies to the state of
nature, society without government, society
with government ...... whatever.
