I agree with Ayesha on some points. 

The liberal arguments for strong individual rights are based on a paradigm individual who is autonomous, strong, independent, and basically needs no one. The real world includes countless people who come nowhere near that paradigm. They are better described as dependent and vulnerable. Women, children, and the aged are typically in this position.
