Here are the questions I wrote down. Tell me if I have left anything off the list.

  • Does the difference in moral codes in different cultures matter for meta-ethics? If so, how and why?
  • What does it mean to say that differences between moral systems are fundamental?
  • Are the existing differences - about polygamy for example - fundamental?
  • Do the differences among moral systems imply the obligation to be tolerant and to avoid interference with other cultures?

  • What does it mean to say that one moral system is superior to another?
  • Is there a way to prove that one moral system is superior to the others? How might we approach this?
  • What does it mean to say that two moral systems are equally valid?
  • How can we decide whether two moral systems are equally valid?

  • Are moral judgments like "X is good" or "X is wrong" true or false in the same sense that scientific statements like "Water boils at 212° Fahrenheit." are true or false?
  • Is there a way to prove that one moral system is correct or true and the others are not? What would 'correct' or 'true' mean in this context?
  • Can scientific methods prove that one moral system is correct or true?

  • What does it mean to say that values are objective or that they are absolute? Are these two different concepts?
  • Does the existence of many different moral codes around the world imply anything about whether there are objective or absolute values?

There! I think I did a pretty good job getting the questions written down. If we could answer all of these, we could write a book.
