The diversity argument is like the other utilitarian arguments we've mentioned. It may work in favor of black people today, but that could change.

Once the precedent is set, there is no reason why a different group will not be favored in the future. Suppose a few years from now someone notices that Slavs or Italians or some other ethnic group is poorly represented on our university faculties or in corporate management. What is to prevent them from using the government to pressure schools and companies to discriminate against blacks in order to increase the number of people from their group? Should we risk that?
