You're against everything that might really work. I wish your great great grandparents had gone to Canada in 1776. You can accept the milder forms of affirmative action precisely because they don't bring about any major change. You accept them now, but you would have opposed them in the 50s and 60s when they seemed like more of a threat. In 1964 the conservative line was that government should leave private employers alone and not force them to stop discriminating. Now, 30 years later, you talk about non-discrimination and a color-blind society as ideals. But frankly, I think you only talk that way because it's no longer publicly acceptable to say anything else.
