The endless arguments about whether this black person deserves this little thing and that black person deserves that little thing are not only beside the point, they delay and obstruct any serious program of reparations.

How can you look someone in the eye after degrading his family and his people for centuries and tell him that you can't provide him with any compensation or reparation because, after all, it was his grandmother or his great grandfather who was harmed. If we can't pay reparations to black people today, then we're really saying that one of the great crimes of history was a perfect crime because those who did it are dead.
