If you believe that both the right of the mother to control her body and the right of the fetus to life are involved, then it is important to make clear the relationship between these rights.

Is either right "absolute"? What might "absolute" mean in this context? Would a clearer understanding show that they are compatible? If they conflict, how should we decide the outcome? Is one more fundamental? Is the choice open? The fetus did not choose to be where it is. The mother may not have chosen to be pregnant. In what way does this matter?
