Beyond Liberalism?

If you keep going down this road you no longer have a form of liberalism. Instead, you have turned liberalism upside down. You begin with the idea of protecting liberties from the state. But you then create an extensive, Leviathan state that regulates more an more of what was previously private activity. You are making a monster out of the state and constantly reducing the area of private freedom.

For example: When you guarantee jobs or incomes you may or may not be achieving something good. But when you do it by extending government power and restricting the actions of employers you are most certainly not expanding liberty. And that is why it is not a form of liberalism.
