I don't think that Malik needs to deny that doing those other things would be of enormous value. The point is that removing stigma is a necessary condition for making major progress in all those areas.

As long as people do not place equal value on the lives of blacks and whites, we aren't going to have a jobs program, a medical program, improved schools, and so on for African Americans.
