I'm not sure how to react to your project. I agree with you that
a non-racist, non-sexist culture is an excellent goal. But it
is an ideal to be approached carefully. Let me make two points:
- The process by which values and attitudes are formed is subtle and not very well understood. As a Burkean conservative, these facts are very important to me. If we try to take control of that process when we hardly understand it, we risk making things worse than they are. The unintended consequences could be enormous, and we might very well get something quite different from what you want.
- You are talking about a planned cultural transformation. That requires taking control of many aspects of American culture. It could lead to controlling speech, media, schools, and so forth. There's a risk that your project would, if carried to its logical conclusions, lead to tyranny. In that case, the cure would be worse than the disease.
I want to say again that I would like to see the anti-black, anti-female attitudes in our culture eliminated. Don't accuse me of favoring racism and sexism. My point is quite different from that.
