• A white student heard from his black roommate that minorities had a difficult time in a particular class and felt they were not treated fairly. When the instructor asked the students to identify their concerns about the course, he raised these issues. The instructor filed a complaint under the new code.
  

• Another student was accused of making harassing statements in class because he said that "homosexuality is an illness that needs to be 'cured.'"
  

It appears that the code has already been applied to classroom discussions because of comments that were not intended to harass anyone. This sort of thing puts a chill on debate. That's exactly what 'Doe' is claiming.

Furthermore, in some cases it seems clear that the code is an attempt to lock in the liberal view on certain controversial issues by banning alternate views. That's what's happening in the case I mentioned concerning homosexuality. As a conservative, I fear that a code like this could be expanded to prohibit the expression of more and more conservative views on campus.
