You may be right about our not having a basic moral right not to be offended. And that would include Devin's students. But it doesn't follow that they have no basis for a complaint against him for what he is saying and doing in class.

Basic moral rights are not the only grounds on which we can claim that someone should stop what they are doing or claim that they are obliged to stop. Devin may be violating his contract with the university. He may be violating university policy. He may be seriously interfering with the goals of the university. He may be harming his students in ways other than simply offending them.

This case isn't closed yet.
