Who Should Pay?

There is a price to pay. Yes, there is. What I want to point out is that in the case we are talking about the people who are asked to pay that price belong to the weaker and less advantaged groups in society. You are asking African Americans and women to pay the price for the free speech of other, more privileged, groups.

How can it be fair to distribute the 'price' in this way? We often criticize regressive taxes because they fall most heavily on the poor. This case is similar. The 'speech tax', so to speak, falls most heavily on the disadvantaged.
