There are lots of difficult cases that these definitions may or may not cover. Here are just a few:

• Speeches at various halls around campus
• Classroom lectures and readings assigned for classes
• Statements by students during classroom discussion
• Political rallies on the Diag and in other public places
• Discussions in the common areas of dormitories
• Discussions in private rooms in dormitories
• Posters and flyers given out by political organizations on campus

What do the many different definitions of hate speech imply when applied to each of these cases? Who knows! This is Pandora's box. Don't open it.
