Speaker If Gauthier is correct, he has shown us how we can derive a limited set of moral rules from what is in everyone's interest as rational cooperators. But is that all that morality should require of us?

I think Gauthier's moral rules are a far cry from the ideas of the great moralists like Jesus or the Buddha. All of the great moral teachers have taught universal compassion. How do we bridge the gap? Or are we to simply give up the attempt?
