I agree with what you are saying, but I want to make a different argument. 

I think that race and sex are irrelevant considerations when we are dealing with justice because they are involuntary. People do not choose their race or sex and therefore they do not deserve to be treated one way or another because of their race or sex.

This argument is different from yours. It doesn't turn on a scientific issue. Instead it turns on what we think about what people deserve -- a moral issue.
