In the particular case you describe -- in which the old fashioned racist claims that blacks are less intelligent then whites -- maybe science can answer the question. At least in principle it should be able to do so.

But the case you mention is set up so that the dispute turns on a scientific fact. Is that always true? Can the question of relevance always be answered by scientific studies? I'm not so sure. Maybe Vera is right here. Maybe you are exaggerating what science can do.
