I think
what Young wants is a more vigorous democracy based not on
supposedly impartial points of view but on dialogue.
She believes that so-called impartial points of view simply
reinforce the existing interests of privileged groups and create
hierarchy. The ideal of impartiality simply leads to decisions by
experts, professionals, bureaucrats, and so on as opposed to real
democracy. She wants us to move toward "participatory structures"
involving actual people who don't have impartial
views.
