John Speaking
But you are assuming a certain understanding of what belongs to you. You speak of YOUR goods and YOUR services.

Remember what I was saying before, that I reject the idea that any natural rights to property continue to exist in societies like ours in which the Lockean proviso no longer holds. We have to create the rules of property that apply to our society.

And I would suggest that as we create and modify those rules, one of the considerations we should make is how those rules facilitate the development of autonomous individuals.

To put it bluntly -- I know that's what you like -- as those rules are developed and modified, your definition of property rights will not be dominant. What you think of as yours may not be entirely yours according to those rules. A portion of it may be redistributed -- there, I said the word -- in order to facilitate autonomy. But what gets redistributed is not something that you had a right to according to those rules.
