There does need to be a process of rectification. But it needn't be one that is administered by the federal (or any) government. That's where big government liberals go wrong.

The point of any rectification program is to make people whole -- i.e., roughly, to get them where they would be at if injustice had not occurred. I would argue that the best program of rectification ever conceived is a free market. A free market creates so many opportunities that people who have been treated unjustly (or their descendants) can make up for lost ground. and that's exactly what's needed.

This isn't just free market dogma. Look at the Irish or the Jews in the United States. Through the market they have been able to make up for discrimination.
