I want to rephrase what you are saying. You are asking what it means to say that one moral system is correct and whether scientific methods can tell us whether one moral system is correct.

Here is another way to put the questions:

  • Are moral judgments like "X is good" or "X is wrong" true or false in the same sense that scientific statements like "Water boils at 212° Fahrenheit" are true or false?
  • Can scientific methods answer moral questions?

Just for clarity, here is a list of what I mean by moral questions:

  • Is X good?
  • Is it good to do X?
  • Ought we to do X?
  • Do I have a right to do X?
  • Am I obliged to do X?
