Professor Sidgwick Speaking

This
is very good. Yes, indeed. Having anthropology students and philosophy
students is working very well indeed. No guns allowed, now. Remember
that, no guns allowed. Yes, indeed.
We're going to try to list all these questions in a bit. John is
keeping a list. But I want to
add one of my own before we go any further. We started with Ayesha's
comments on Herskovit's cultural relativism. There were also
anthropologists, such as Edward Westermarck, who used the phrase
"ethical relativity." So let's be sure we add this question to our list:
- What is ethical relativity or ethical relativism?
(By the way, we could also use the words 'moral relativity' or
'moral relativism.')
We have postponed answering most of the questions, but I would like
you to try to answer this one right now - based on what we have heard
about cultural relativism.
