Yes, I see you have done your homework. You've made quick work of the older anthropologists. It is generally agreed by moral philosophers that Herskovits and Benedict rather overreached when they tried to deduce a moral value like tolerance or a rule of non-interference from their idea of cultural relativism.

But now let's look for a moment at what a professional philosopher, David Wong, has said more recently about tolerance. He would agree with what we have said so far; but he had another argument.

In his book Moral Relativity Wong argues that we can get from ethical relativism to a kind of tolerance if we add an additional premise. He calls the additional premise the "justification principle."
