Wait, Ann. Think what you're saying. If the benefits of diversity in education are as great as you say, what does it imply for the historically black or historically all female colleges?
I think the black colleges like Howard and Fisk have done an outstanding job educating thousands of black students for over a century. But if what you're saying is true, they ought to integrate as quickly as possible in order to avoid a disaster. Their students will have to live in a culturally and racially diverse world too.
I don't see how you can use diversity as the basis for affirmative action in the mostly white schools and still support all black schools.
