I see some benefits for the blacks involved in the programs. And I see some benefits for other blacks who are motivated by role models or by the demand for skilled black employees.
But I don't see the utility for the rest of society! This is supposed to be a utilitarian argument. Don't you have to show that most people benefit? It seems to me that at best you've shown that many blacks would benefit.
What about everyone else? Surely you don't believe that white job applicants who lose jobs because of affirmative action are better off!
