We all take it as obvious that slavery is wrong. Explaining WHY it is wrong leads quickly to fundamental questions that divide moral philosophers into different camps.
Ann says that slavery is wrong because it deprives people of their liberty. Why should we consider this to be immoral or unjust? One answer is that people have a "natural right" to liberty or certain liberties. One of the speakers, Dee, takes this position. Another answer is that a rule providing for a wide range of individual liberty maximizes human welfare in the long run. This is essentially Ann's position.
