Fred raises an interesting question: How far back into history should we take the effort to undo injustice?

Should we attempt to compensate Irish Americans whose ancestors were discriminated against in the 19th century? Should we attempt to compensate Native Americans whose land was taken unjustly by European settlers? What if we were to discover that those Native Americans had previously taken land from other groups? What if the historical information is unavailable or available only at great cost? What if a group was unjustly treated 100 years ago but now has an above average income?
