Yes. OK. I will agree to that. We can talk about compensation for discrimination, but I'll be thinking mainly about discrimination by government.

I want to say something else, though, to prevent a misunderstanding. I will defend the right of private employers to discriminate on the basis of race or color. At the same time, I think it is disgusting for them to do so. Personally, I would want nothing to do with an employer who adopted such a policy. I believe strongly that racial discrimination is a great evil --for all the reasons that Ann has pointed out. I simply believe that we all have the right to do some things that are evil and disgusting.
