You keep thinking that discrimination of one kind or another determines what happens to black people in this country. Maybe it's discrimination against them or maybe it's discrimination that favors them --but you think that it's always discrimination that counts. That's a mistake.

You're trapped in the past. There are two crucial problems that face most young black people today. First, poor education and the resulting lack of marketable skills. Second, too many young black people are having children before they can support a family. The girls end up on welfare and the boys do too little to help the children.

Blacks can take control of their own future by controlling these things.
