If you think early abortions are usually permissible, you should consider the possibility of abortions done for bad reasons. Is there such a thing? Does it matter?

Suppose that a woman decides to have an abortion after three weeks of pregnancy because she does not wish to have her summer at the beach interrupted. Or suppose she has an abortion because she doesn't want a child of a particular sex. Ask yourself whether her decision causes you any concern. If so, why? Can you reconcile your concerns with your position on the morality of early abortions? Do the reasons for the abortion enter into your thinking at all, or do you believe that any early abortion is morally permissible? Would it be wrong to have an abortion because you lost the flip of a coin? If so, why?
