One more approach to consider: If you cannot decide whether the
embryo or fetus is a person, you could safely assume that it is
a potential person. (Even the most committed advocates of the
right to abortion will agree.)
Working from that premise, you might be able to build an argument
for or against abortion. For example, you could argue that embryos
have enormous value because they are the only beings with the
potential to become people. As such, they should be accorded certain
rights and protections.
This raises the subject of moral rights, which will be discussed later.
