If you accept this argument, you must be very clear on why the
embryo cannot have rights before it becomes a sentient being.
You might argue that denying this leads to absurd consequences
such as attributing rights to sperm cells and ova, but you must
have a clear argument.
In addition, you should develop the theory of parental obligation that is implicit here. If an infant were dropped on your doorstep in the middle of the wild would you have no obligation to care for it? What if you could do so with minimal effort? What if the infant required substantial effort but posed no threat to your well being? What if you had only enough resources for yourself? Could a pregnant woman have a minimal obligation even if she did not choose to become pregnant? What would such an obligation require of her?
