Most of us also believe that the state should be concerned with more than forbidding intrinsically immoral actions. For example:

The state is expected to uphold strong traditions of personal liberty and the separation of church and state. The state is expected to promote certain consequences: social stability, economic prosperity, and public health. The state is expected to abide by certain democratic processes that are felt to have a certain value in themselves.

All of these concerns can be related to abortion. But do they count for or against the freedom to abort?
