These arguments focus on the embryo or fetus. They attempt to show that the fetus is a person, a bearer of rights, a valuable being, and so forth. But what about the mother? Can you decide the moral issues without considering her rights, her value, and her aspirations? Are the fetus' rights absolute? (Are hers?)

These considerations will become even more important if you reach the conclusion that abortion should be illegal. That implies that the state should use its power to compel a pregnant woman to carry her child to term.

You could argue that (1) the mother's rights do not conflict with those of the embryo/fetus, or (2) the rights of the child override those of the mother.
