What should we do if there is no way to decide whether the embryo or the fetus is a person? Or what if you come to the conclusion that you at least cannot decide? What is the moral thing to do in such a case? What laws on abortion should you support?

Some authors, like Ruth Macklin, believe that when discussing abortion our definitions of 'person' are always chosen in part because of the implications they have for the case of abortion. As a result, they don't help to end the debate. They simply support the conclusion we already accept.
