I think we should go back to Ayesha's original argument as professor Sidgwick formulated it. That's a good place to start. Ayesha was restating an argument made by some anthropologists. The argument went like this:
  • Different cultures have different moral codes.
  • There is no way to prove that any one moral code is superior to the others.
  • Therefore, all codes are on the same level and are equally valid. Furthermore, each code is binding within, but not beyond, the culture of which it is a part.

Is this a valid argument? Is it a sound argument?
